@kasey_lynch: Don’t panic! Here’s what you need to know about electric toothbrushes & microplastics. I evaluated: * replacement heads for Sonicare toothbrush * Suri 2.0 electric toothbrush * Primal boar and horse bristle brush options (not personally tested) * Miswak twig and toothbrush heads There are multiple ways to make a decision about your toothbrush and in this evaluation, I looked at microplastics, enamel wear, frame construction, bristle material breakdown, and a plastic free option. Let me know if you have any additional questions in the comments! If you want an EMF breakdown, I can give you my findings on that as well. All products mentioned are linked under “shop all collections” to make it easy for ya 🤍 #naturalfibers #electrictoothbrush #plasticfree #lowtoxliving #lowtoxswaps
why would you get the bamboo with plastic bristles rather than the miswak replacement head for ur sonicare? is that due to cost differences?

I fell down that exact research rabbit hole a few months ago, and SURI ended up being the best pick for me 🩷 Everyone has their priorities but I really wanted peace of mind about hygiene and I couldn't get onboard with animal hair. I don't like that we have to make any compromises when trying to live low toxic

Soooo... I mean... A lot of people in African countries are thewing a special root instead of using a plastic toothbrush... And umm... Sorry to say, but chewing the root is MUCH better for your teeth and jaws and can help with tooth placement. Soft food = braces. We need the hard chew to set the teeth in place.

Avoiding micro plastics is extremely difficult these days when they’re in the water, food, the air, etc. just gotta decide what’s worth it and what’s not. For me, im going to keep the electric tooth brush and try to minimize micro plastics in other ways. But people please don’t drive yourselves insane trying to avoid all of it.

I believe bioplastics actually sheds microplastics at a much higher rate than petroleum based plastic… not 100% sure on that but I went down this same rabbit hole at one point and came across that information somewhere on here

What was used before plastic use became widespread (like in the 1950s), assuming there was something popular between the miswak stick & plastic toothbrushes
