Life of Couscous :
Tomasz Kosowski was convicted of murdering attorney Steven Cozzi in Florida in 2023. Prosecutors said the motive was a bitter legal dispute: Cozzi represented people Kosowski was suing, and the conflict between them had become personal. The evidence was extensive: Cozzi’s blood and DNA were found in the law-office bathroom, Cozzi’s DNA was found in Kosowski’s Toyota Tundra, and surveillance showed Kosowski entering the office and later leaving with a heavy Gorilla Cart covered by a blanket, which he struggled to load into his truck. His phone data placed him near the office, and investigators later found Cozzi’s blood in the truck and in Kosowski’s other car. Police also found a “murder bag” containing masks, a Taser, crowbar, duct tape, syringes and the paralytic drug succinylcholine. A week before the murder, a masked man was found hiding in the law office, and investigators linked this to Kosowski. After the killing, surveillance and phone data tracked his movements to a dumpster that was later emptied into a landfill. Cozzi’s body was never found. Kosowski even argued that it was physically impossible to lift a ~190-lb body in the cart into the truck, but the judge rejected his request for a courtroom demonstration. He waived a jury and was tried by the judge alone. On September 23, 2026, Judge Joseph Bulone found him guilty of first-degree murder. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
