Qadeer, a Pakistani national who arrived in Britain on a student visa, abused his trusted position as a professional carer. Upon discovering the victim's family would be away from the residence, Qadeer targeted the completely defenceless woman while on shift. He climbed onto her bed, whispered that he loved her and wanted to marry her, and ignored her helplessness before launching into a prolonged ordeal including sexual assault and oral rape. The victim was utterly incapable of physically resisting or defending herself. When detectives arrested him, Qadeer mounted a sickening defence, claiming the frail, bedbound pensioner had sexually assaulted him. Jurors at Bristol Crown Court dismissed his lies, convicting him of the attack.
