We just started it for kinder this year and it’s terrible. It’s so many steps to just answer one question and we’re basically having to sit 1:1 to make sure they know what to do to operate it correctly.

At my school parents can choose between several different programs. I have some kids that love IXL and I have some that hate it.

I like doing the diagnostic and then the students work on the recommendations. They enjoy it because when they finish them I give them dojo points. I like that now you can assign the games too

Middle school teacher 💗 It is VERY boring, when we had it, kids were required to complete 2 lessons per week, per class. It was exhausting to see them so focused/stressed each week. I tried to implement it as our bellwork and early finisher each day to hopefully minimize any work at home but gosh… it was exhausting. It is a great tool for repetitive practice and practice with digital tools similar to standardized test as well as exposure to similar wording and formatting of our standardized test… I don’t know… 😅

It hasn’t changed and kids do not love it. I think it’s a good tool to use as a class. It has some great examples but is not ideal for independent practice.

We had a meeting as parents today with the administration about how frustrating IXL is.. they set the SmartScore to 100% which make the kids cry. I think if you set it to 80, it will be a bit easier BUT there is zero teaching in IXL. Beast Academy is 100% much better and more fun and actually teach them. It has a very short video attached to each question where the child can watch and it explains it in a nice way.

We have it at school and we use it for diagnostic and some teachers use it all the time. I am not one. We have magma but I don’t know if it goes that low. I have used splash learn and it was free and it was very fun.

My kid hated IXL but he is in a different county. Not sure if they have K but check out Delta Math. It’s horrible because miss question it takes them back down.

My ms kids also use IXL, many nights end in tears. Not a fan!! As a teacher I can see it being used as enrichment but as intervention, it makes the kids hate math more than they already do!
