@i.a.n.network: Ian Alleyne at scene of fatal Chaguaramas police shooting A 24-year-old man is dead following a police-involved shooting at the Military Museum along Western Main Road, Chaguaramas, in the early hours of Monday. The deceased has been identified as Darrion Patterson. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the incident happened around 2:55 a.m. on September 21, after police responded to a report of men on the museum compound. Acting Sergeant Garcia, Police Constables Rogers and Narine went to the location and encountered three people — two males and one female — on the south-eastern side of the compound, police said. The situation reportedly escalated when one of the males came through a gate and allegedly lunged at the officers while armed with a knife. Police said one of the officers responded by discharging his service firearm, striking the two male suspects. Both men were taken for medical treatment. Patterson was subsequently pronounced dead at hospital. The second male, a 17-year-old, was initially treated at the St James Infirmary before being transferred to the Port of Spain General Hospital. A 17-year-old female, who was also detained in connection with the incident, was taken to the St Clair Booking Centre.
