@interestingmoments11: Byron Donalds really said "possession charge? been there. bad check scheme? also been there" and turned his rap sheet into a personality trait. Man really speedran a decade of financial crimes before he ever ran for Congress, then had the records sealed like he was hiding a group chat, not a felony theft plea. Meanwhile he's out here lecturing America about law and order with the confidence of someone whose Wikipedia page has its own "legal history" section. Character development, they call it. Redemption arc, sure. But also, sir, you cashed $7,000 in bad checks and are now writing laws about financial crime, the audacity alone deserves a Netflix documentary.

In 1997, at age 18, Byron Donalds was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge; he completed a pretrial diversion program, paid a $150 fine, and the charge was dismissed. In 2000, at age 21, he was arrested on a felony charge stemming from depositing a fraudulent check, pleaded no contest, served probation, and later had the record sealed and expunged. Donalds has publicly acknowledged both incidents.
