@thepottymouthguru: The word boundary doesn’t automatically make something healthy. Sometimes control gets dressed up in really good therapy language. A demand becomes a “boundary.” Punishment becomes a “consequence.” Surveillance becomes “reassurance.” And your resistance to any of it becomes proof that you don’t respect boundaries. Healthy boundaries protect your agency. Coercive control progressively takes someone else’s agency away. And if you’re reading this thinking, oh fuck… some of this feels familiar, you don’t need to be certain it’s “bad enough” before talking to someone who understands abuse and coercive control. Slight revision: if you’re yelling at me and it’s my house, you’re the one getting out. I’m not walking away. I live here.🤷♀️😆

Extremely well said. I experienced a situation where a person had ideas in their head about what I should do, and they didn’t express them. Now when I had other plans, perfectly reasonable, their entire mood shifted. I ended up doing damage control because of their unreasonable expectation and I explained it until I was quite blue in the face. And that’s why it ended.

A gut-check I really like: Does this boundary protect my ability to make my own choices, or is it designed to make someone else afraid of making theirs? 👀 What’s the wildest thing you’ve heard someone call a “boundary”? ❤️🤟🏻🌿

What if he creates boundaries for daytime, evening, and nighttime that he can’t talk about relationship issues? Basically leaving me with no time ever to talk. Also once I tried to talk in the evening and he was super rude telling me he’d talk later. I told him that’s ok, I just wanted him to express it kindly to me. And he said I was unsafe and boundary less?

I got a question… I have about 12 different health issues this past year. Every time I tried talking to my cousin she’d cut me off and make it about her. One day I was telling her a new health issues and she started talking about her hangover. I said I get it, but I really can’t handle your venting right now. She replied with oh wow, ok, we never need to speak again. Put me on your no contact list. This was after almost a year of me trying to tell her how tired and exhausted I am from these multiple issues. Was I wrong in my wording? ( for context we’ve like BFFs for the past 45 yrs)
