They kicked me off of food assistance while I was recovering from major foot surgery because I didn't meet the work requirements. If I hadn't gotten approved for SSI when I did, I would've lost my access to medicaid for that exact same reason. This country is a goddamn hellscape.

So the problem is that not every state expanded Medicaid— and the majority of states that did expand the Medicaid somebody making $16,000 a year would absolutely qualify for Medicaid and should not be on the ACA because they should be getting free insurance. But in those states where they did not expand the ACA there is no Medicaid for them to get so like for example before Oklahoma expanded Medicaid and adult had to make less than $500 a month if they were a family of one to get Medicaid and it’s like 774 if they’re a family of two. So all of those people that live in the states that didn’t expand Medicaid will now be screwed.

I make $30 to much for Medicaid, and with my multiple health issues, the lowest quote was $550. For health insurance. So I guess I could live in the woods, with my little bag of 14 meds n go doc to doc.

Oh, and the ACA premiums are not cheap. Most plans have huge deductibles, big out of pocket max, 20% or more co insurance.
