@neilcousins: Try something new, you might find something you enjoy 1. Painting your own crockery It’s pretty cheap to do this and is an easy way to switch off from the world and focus. Even if you don’t want to do this, try painting on a Canva. Keep it simple if you’re a beginner painter 2. Strategy board games Games like Catan and risk require decision making, problem solving and strategy. If you’re a competitive person, worth giving it ago. Even if you can’t get a group of friends together, you can find board game events to attend. 3. Reading classical literature Forget the modern self help books and read the works of some of the greats. Aurelius, Aristotle, Seneca just to name a few. Challenge the way you think and gain new perspectives. It’s surprising how much of their work applies to modern life. 4. A new sport Don’t play what you’re familiar with. Try a completely new sport that intimidates you. Plenty to try and loads of events you can attend without needing friends. 5. Reading old advertisements I started reading Ogilvy on advertising published in 1983 and it showcases a bunch of adverts in the past and it’s interesting to see how psychology was used to convince people to buy. 6. Writing an article on Substack Everyone can be a writer because everyone has their own perspective on their life and the world. The great thing about Substack is there’s an audience for everyone even if you do want to vent about your life. Choose a topic you’re passionate about. Research it and write your own take on it. Hit publish.
