As someone who goes to Trent University. They are not very prepared for emergencies. During the ice storm when Peterborough lost parts of electricity they had no back up generators when I lived in residence, so they cooked us burgers for like 2 days. They didn’t give us any compensation etc. I can almost guarantee you based off of inside info they are doing the least for accommodations. It costs so much to live in residence, they 100% should be providing people with accommodations or compensation. It’s a weekday most people don’t have cars to drive home, or their parents are working. It is not fair for the university to expect people to go home out of the blue. I feel bad for the international students on campus as they pay double the rates. (Agree as an international student)
