@wired: All mentions of “artificial intelligence” in US government documents will be replaced with “super intelligence” because it “sounds much better,” US president Donald Trump said in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Trump, speaking a year after he demanded an investigation into the alleged sabotage of an escalator at the UN that stopped working when he stepped onto it, said that calling AI “artificial” made it “sound fake, and it is not fake, it’s actually amazing.” The US president has a habit of renaming things via executive orders, including Lake Ontario to Lake America and the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, although the change of names only apply to US federal government use. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Trump’s call to rebrand AI to “super intelligence” would also be followed up by an executive order.
