I feel like referring to regions in african as north, central, west, east, and south is way better cuz it actually describes the region a person or country is from. Like what is sub sahara even supposed to mean? What is sub? Sub just sounds like a derogatory term

there was no clear divide. it's a gradient. if you look at the people in the middle such as tuareg peoples or sudanese people, they look like an overlap between the northern africans and the more southern peoples.

Subsahara technically should represent North of Sahara, because east and central Africa geographically sits higher than the Sahara. That's why the Nile flows down north. Sub is derogatory term to mean less than. It's a racist ideology.
