At first glance, Light and Lelouch can seem almost identical. They are young geniuses who hide their true identities while operating behind powerful alter egos. Light becomes Kira, a mysterious figure who decides who deserves to live and die. Lelouch becomes Zero, the masked revolutionary who challenges the political order of the world. Both create carefully constructed public personas, manipulate allies and enemies, and repeatedly sacrifice relationships for the sake of their larger objectives. However, their manipulation is based on different psychological foundations. Light primarily manipulates through fear, deception, control, and the exploitation of information.
