It’s not just the kids though!!!! Had a guy at the store I work at where we spent ~10 minutes “sir remove your card and hit pay now” because he had hit rewards on the keypad. He kept trying to put his pin in “it’s not working” yes REMOVE your card and hit pay now😮💨afterwards a coworker said I should’ve did it for him and I “how will he learn if I do it for him” if you don’t correct it when they’re young they grow up into “it says remove my card, what do I do?” Kind of adults

We were doing a text feature scavenger hunt in their science books. I had so many students ask me what page the certain text features were on. LIKE NO, I’M NOT GONNA TELL YOU! THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ASSIGNMENT IS THAT YOU FIND THE TEXT FEATURES! I NEED YOU TO IDENTIFY THEM!

An actual conversation during my class the other day, I was talking to my friend about going to Montana and this guy goes “oh going out of the country?” And the look on my teacher’s face Teacher: Montana is a part of the US Student: okay but what state is it in? Teacher: the state of Montana.

dude. im homeschooling my kids. this is our second year and my kids went to public school until my oldest finished 5th grade. she is this way and I dont know how to break her of it. she thinks I need to sit and talk though every problem with her. I dont do it but she still tries to rope me into it every day.

I told mine, I have all your needs in the front. If you come in here and act like you have nothing and don’t speak up at all, you earn a zero. I’m not holding your hand when you’ve been in school your entire life 🤷🏽♀️. May have had one students try me and recieved a zero. I haven’t had any issues since :)

I babysit. I woke a kid up one morning and was like okay get ready. He looks at me and goes “well I need clothes” I’m like buddy they’re in your drawer in your room that you’re standing in😭

I get so frustrated because my own kids have this and I literally do not understand where they learned it because I have made them do things themselves and figure things out on their own their whole lives and now it feels like suddenly they’re incapable of things they’ve done for years. WTH?

It’s not learned helplessness it’s laziness… these students know what to do and how to do it, all of a sudden they know the answer if I tell them “if you were me what would you do…”

Today, they me it was too hard to fill in 7 words on a template. We discussed every part of the assignment, the directions were on the paper and the board, and they had the aforementioned template. They’re in middle school.
