there is no chinese law that bans game companies from revising already released character models mihoyo chooses not to update old character models because of development resources staff workload and player feedback balance it is a business decision not a legal restriction another reason they do not upgrade old character models is that some players do not have high performance phones or computers they prioritize the overall gaming experience for all players instead of only making characters look better if they updated the old models a large number of players might quit the game
