Two seats, butterfly doors, no steering wheel, no pedals, no mirrors 2️⃣ That night, regular people took the first public rides, booked through Tesla’s robotaxi app 3️⃣ Hours later, NHTSA opened an investigation into how Tesla self-certified a car with no manual controls 4️⃣ The stock dropped more than 5 percent before lunch 5️⃣ Meanwhile, a clip of a guy repeatedly jumping in front of a moving Cybercab passed 1.3 million views. The car stopped every single time, then turned on its hazards and refused to move What stood out to me: ✅ The car braked for a guy who was clearly messing with it, every single round ✅ Federal rules still require manual controls like a brake pedal, so the paperwork fight is real ✅ Zoox went through the same review three years ago and got approved ✅ The real rider complaints aren’t about the driving. They’re the doors, the drop-off spots, and the wait times Why this matters: this is the first time regular people can hail a car that nobody inside could take over, even if they wanted to.
