It’s a crisis!!! On top of that…the good kids or the kids who care about their learning are getting the short end of the stick because they have to deal with distractions and disruption daily and the quality teachers are quitting so their education is diminishing 💔😫

School social worker here on year 9… I can’t even support families or work on anything because I am literally managing behavior all day and running to classrooms to support. Schools are becoming psychiatric day placements.

I’m in year 14. Every year seems increasingly more difficult in different ways. Nothing is ever the same with administrative decisions… and the number of students off task, blurting, yelling, touching is far more than the 2-3 I had when I started teaching. Y’all we aren’t complaining. We’re sounding the freaking alarm. We’re going to have an even larger mass exodus if things don’t change.

I was cleaning a teachers teeth. She was young and got her first job. She didn't even make it a year. Now she is a manager at a warehouse. She said teachers have no support from the school.

I know a couple that use their clout and position of power to get a teacher fired. This couple also bullied another teacher into giving their kid a much higher grade.

I’m a previous teacher in Perth - it’s the amount of special needs in the class and parents that did it for me. Classroom was just managing behaviour of special needs (or kids who couldn’t regulate their own emotions) which in turn made the rest of the kids learning suffer.

I've helped sub at my daughter's elementary school and I'm ASTOUNDED by the behaviors. I truly can't believe it. The back talk the whining the just not even caring or listening. It's wild stuff.

Then there are parents like me who are fully invested in her child’s education and is constantly asking wtf cuz it doesn’t seem to me like any real education is taking place. Just an iPad in her face playing “educational” games and non stop testing her without real learning tools. Get rid of the dumb ipads. They create the problems also the educational board needs to stop pushing what used to be first grade onto kindergartens and so on and so fourth. They are kids. They need to learn the basics and fully understand it. everyone is failing everyone. Kids are not workers. They are the future

I did an interview with stakeholders in education and they said most teachers leave within the first 5 years, and we need to be training teachers to equip them with better skills to conduct classroom… so basically saying those who quit aren’t skilled enough. I was floored.

after my wife was assaulted and had her glasses broken by a student, and the school's solution was "the student can go to a different class" and nothing further, she quit. It's had some negative consequences as far as student loans go but it was more important for us to get her out of a dangerous situation
