@captain.t.roll: If you tip on the price of the food and the restaurant decides to raise the prices on the menu, then you’re essentially paying the servers more for the same service. Tip based on service not on cost. #receipt #tipping
nothing. I never tip the servers aren't my employees and I don't give my money away. #notip2026

UP TO $5 per person at table is more than fair... it takes no more effort to carry out a $40 steak, than it does a $15 sandwich and fries plate

At a sit-down place, I start with 20% and start deducting when I need to ask for things like utensils, drink refills, the check, etc. of course, more is added if the server is on it!

Well, guess what we get taxed 8% of our sales so what is 8% of your bill? That’s why we usually get 15 to 20% because if you tip 20% and the government takes 8% we only get a 12% tip. We get taxed on 8% of your bill.

If that person gets $10 per table and he/she has 4 tables that ends up at about $40/hr. Yeah…that’s more than I make

It has nothing to do with service. If I go and order a $15 meal and water or a $25 meal and a drink, does the server work any harder? No

Next time tell your server how much you plan on tipping and see how your experience goes

I wish that restaurant go up on the prices and just pay the servers a good rate so their isn’t a debate. The your scampi can be $47 instead of 27 to give the servers $20 per hour

Tip in cash because that tip will most likely go into the owners pockets and the server will probably won’t see it.

$10 was what i said before you wrote it down. Why should i tip more for a $30 dish as opposed to a $10 dish? The waiter/waitress is still bringing one dish. The % is such a scam

Makes sense, we’ve just all been used to tipping based on amount instead of service. Restaurant owners need to pay their staff a livable wage and not rely on the customer to do it

why should we pay there wages and the owner gets all the profits. he should pay the minimum wage at least then the tips reflect on your dinner and experience.
