@newmomlifewithme: got quoted $4,500 for a whole home reverse osmosis system this week and have been going back and forth on it ever since, mostly because it feels like something i shouldn't have to buy in the first place. the epa is the agency whose entire job is supposed to be guaranteeing our water is actually safe, setting the limits on things like arsenic, lead, and pfas so families don't have to test for this stuff themselves. lately it feels like that job isn't getting done. a federal court just ruled clean drinking water isn't even a constitutional right. the epa has been approving new forever chemicals instead of restricting them. and enforcement of the safety standards that do exist has been getting rolled back, not strengthened. so now the actual guarantee is a $4,500 system i have to buy myself, in a house i already pay water bills for, to get the protection i assumed was already built in. new moms, low tox mamas, anyone else feeling like you're paying out of pocket for something that was supposed to already be covered: does that feel as backwards to you as it does to me?
