@buckhorncliffs: Small things first: Cash on hand. Not all preparedness is apocalypse level. Sometimes it's a card processor outage, an ATM offline, or a bank that can't give you cash that day. Having a little cash on hand is smart. Gravity water filter. Water is priority one. Countertop unit for daily use and emergency purification. Long shelf life food. Rice, beans, sardines, canned beef. That's a great place to start. A way to cook without power. Camp stove and some propane. Cheap insurance that food storage means anything. Weapons and ammunition. A useful firearm and enough ammo to actually train with. Skills matter as much as the tool itself. There's more in the "if I were starting today" list on the site, but the theme runs through everything: more important than stuff are your skills and your ability to adapt under pressure. The website is everything. Worth every minute of your time. If you pre-ordered the book, I'll be sending you an email soon with a special gift.
