you’re on to something asking about holidays. I was married to a narcissist. He ruined every single important day. EVERYTHING had to be about him. I couldn’t even have a nice Mother’s Day. He mentally tortured her to get what he wanted … freedom .. I have lived this myself.

When asked if he thought he did his best or had regrets… I can’t imagine ANYONE that’s gone through tragedy that doesn’t harbor some sort of regret, at the least thinking “what if…” I had 2 dogs killed by a stray that came into my yard in 2005. I still have regrets and replay the timeframe constantly- “what if I had gone out with them?” Etc. I never thought that I “did my best” 🤬
