@marianas_wellness: I used to think the answer was always to push harder. Work out harder. Eat less. Be more disciplined. Stop complaining. And definitely don’t let anyone know I was struggling. But midlife changed that for me. My body was changing, and the things that used to work weren’t working the same anymore. Instead of continuing to fight my body, I started getting curious about what it actually needed. And protein became part of that story. For years, I focused so much on calories and the number on the scale that I wasn’t always thinking about whether I was actually fueling my body enough, especially for the strength I wanted to maintain and build. Now at 50, strength matters differently to me. I’m not just exercising because I want to look a certain way. I’m lifting because I want muscle. I want to feel strong. I want to keep doing the things I love as I get older. And that meant I had to stop treating protein like an afterthought. I started paying attention to how much I was actually getting and finding simple ways to make it easier to fit into my day. Not perfectly. Not obsessively. Just intentionally. Protein didn’t become another “diet rule” for me. It became part of learning how to support the woman I’m becoming instead of trying to eat and exercise like the woman I was 20 years ago. That shift has been personal, and I share it because I know there’s another woman in midlife wondering why pushing harder isn’t working anymore. Maybe the next chapter isn’t about doing more. Maybe it’s about learning what your body needs now. 💙 Comment ME TOO if this season sounds familiar or send this to the girlfriend navigating midlife right alongside you.
