He has been labeled “aggressive,” yet we see no clear signs of aggression in the available video. His behavior during intake should not automatically be treated as a reflection of his overall temperament. Intake can be an extremely frightening experience for a dog. They may be restrained, handled, pulled, or otherwise forced into situations they do not understand or want — and fear can understandably trigger defensive reactions. That reaction does not tell us who a dog is once they feel safe. Inside his kennel, Bubba appears frightened and hypervigilant, with behaviors such as growling and whale eye. But fear and defensive behavior should not automatically be equated with aggression. Bubba has barely had time to decompress, adjust to his surroundings, or understand that he is safe. He deserves more than a rushed judgment based on a few days in an unfamiliar and stressful environment. HE DESERVES TIME. HE DESERVES A PROPER, DOCUMENTED BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT.
