Lmaoo I remember once trying to express my feelings to a man and I was being so even toned, calm and really sweet and he was acting like he couldn’t understand wtf I was saying UNTIL I had to come out myself and cuss him out. I definitely agree with unfamiliar. I’ll take it a step further and say that it feels profoundly boring to most. When toxicity is what we’re accustomed to, the gentle quietude of safety and stability gets confused for a lack of chemistry/romance. The push-pull, the fighting and making up, it all becomes confirmation of the other partner’s “specialness”. It’s honestly incredible.

My parents have a bickering type relationship. They really do love each other and laugh a lot too, but my dad is a textbook ragebaiter. I’ve been purposely trying to adjust my attitude and tone down the “roasting” and ragebaiting in my own relationship, because WHYYYY am I being mean to this sweetie pie man????

It’s why I tell people to avoid those who constantly need to start something to feel something. They need a drama, a hurt, an explosion. They’re not inherently bad people, but your surroundings change you. Imagine raising a kid in that environment and continuing that cycle.
