I saw a tiktok and a girl said “mom, did you hear.. its ok to accept blood now, you can take the blood now” and she was talking to her mom’s urn. That really hurt me!

The number of patients I have watched die, heartbroken, because they wouldn’t take blood. But somehow they were fine taking organs.

My aunt had a small procedure done, she ended up having major blood loss. Her doctor and nurses highly suggested a blood transfusion, she said no. They stuck her in a room by herself, and would check on her. She somehow survived and now claims God wanted her to live and is still against blood transfusions. She is a die hard Jehovah's witness, but also drinks a growler of wine everyday and is drunk by 10am.

On my mom’s side, she has a branch that are JW. One of my cousin’s from the JW got married - both he and his wife were barely 20. While on his honeymoon, his wife got sick with influenza-like symptoms. She continued to get more & more ill. She ended up having severe autoimmune hemolytic anemia. They refused blood - she passed a few weeks later, less than 2 months after getting married at 20.

i watched at least 10 cases in our TICU, where jehovas families did not allow their ~ 16-25 years olds to receive blood products and they unnecessarily died. this is infuriating

I was born and raised as a Jehovah's Witness and it ruined my life, but I digress. I recall soooo many times blood being an issue and I had a friend who died because she had to wait so long to get surgery because she was trying to find a physician who would operate without blood. She died and I miss her dearly. My mom had that No Blood card all of her life. I remember those cards being given out and all of the reasons why they refuse to partake of blood. THIS WAS ONE OD THE BIGGEST NO NO's of the religion and now it's been done away with!!!! DIABOLICAL, SIMPLY DIABOLICAL!!!!!

My grandmother was in a traumatic car accident and her son was power of attorney said no blood transfusion they were JW. She died within a few hours because of the blood loss. So horrible. Me and my mom loved her so much

I was raised catholic and never knew this was a thing until i met a JW. Its not even a thing in all Christian branches. I had to get a blood transfusion a few yrs ago and religion was never a factor for me or anyone around me in my family. If you are given the opportunity to keep living, take it

Exactly that happened at the hospital where I worked at in New Mexico and they had to get an emergency court order from a judge to allow the transfusion for little boy

My unit had a pt a few weeks ago who would even let us pull blood from a line bc that little bit of blood that’s left in the catheter that you flush back in.. was outside her body.. she had to be straight sticked for everything and she was SICK sick

One of my mentors in fellowship had a special interest in critical anemia and had jehovahs witness from all over come to our unit for care. It was interesting but kind of a grotesque physiology experiment. Many JW met J despite our efforts. But apparently they dont want whole blood which is hot 💩 now in trauma….
