Incidental charge is standard. Sounds like they gave you a cash option. $250 incidental fee or $25 they self insure the incidental fee. You’re going to have a hard time finding a hotel that won’t require one or the other.

Even the casino hotels hold a $50 fee on ur card for damage or missing items. But non-refundable fees is ridiculous. There are many nice hotels in NOLA that dont do that.

I live in New Orleans, so I’m not sure how the hotels work here specifically. But no, I highly doubt that’s a thing. I would have heard someone complain if that was normal here. I would guess a $50-$100 refundable charge is the norm for non-luxury hotels.

The $25 was non-refundable? A card for incidentals is common, but non-refundable? Absolutely not. The thing about New Orleans is that they do deal with a lot of drunk and unruly people, so some type of deposit is common.
