I strongly suggest some form of fusible interlining on the houndstooth it will help to keep the structure and stability of the fabric. Something like a Pellon SF101 or heavier

You HAVE to use upholstery fabric. Clothing fabric is far less durable, will stretch and stay that way. Credentials: Clothing sewist for 8yrs. I LOVE how the seats turned out!
