@lamestiza: El Tiradito Wishing Shrine is a historic, open-air folk shrine located in the Barrio Viejo neighborhood of downtown Tucson, Arizona. Also known as The Sinner's Shrine: It is widely recognized as the only Catholic shrine in the United States dedicated to a sinner rather than a saint. Around the 1870’s legend states the site honors Juan Oliveras, a young ranch hand killed in a tragic conflict tied to a forbidden love affair with his mother-in-law. Because he died with this sin on his soul, the church denied him burial in consecrated cemetery dirt.
