VSCode (sometimes also Antigravity) - I really don’t use much AI or agents in the IDE itself, they annoy me with the way they edit everything all at once and I can’t have that in my codebase 🥴 so really I just use the IDE mostly like “in the before time” and code and read through code etc PowerPoint: many teams have tech/coders more separated from giving presentations - I used to do consulting and teaching, so I loooove me a good slide deck and explaining visually and hopefully in an engaging way what I do 😊 so when I have time or when it seems like it would move the project forward the most, I built my slides. Thankfully the busywork can be somewhat automated by AI agents now, so I can draft more quickly Copilot CLI, but really any CLI 🤖 I like reviewing the proposed changes step by step and approving only wanted changes (I can’t count how often AI wanted to change something in my code because the thing has no clue what the remote data and data platform look like 😒🙄). My favorite recently was Gemini CLI with the conductor plugin which is elite plan mode. For ML work I love planning out the changes in detail, because there’s a lot of conceptual work involved that doesn’t come across in quick prompts for me. Today I used my end of month credits in copilot CLI to draft some pptx slides - at least the credits don’t expire then 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 iPad/ or really just pen and paper. I like the iPad because I can erase and move notes around very easily on an infinite whiteboard but the pure act of writing with any pen helps me sort my thoughts in a way that no other method can 👌🏻 Disclaimer: I sometimes feel like a coder “fraud” because I don’t code 80% of my day, but I also truly believe that conceptual work is super important in data/ML and we do kind of work as in house consultants and often have to explain how machine learning works and what data demands we have to the different business parts. Whew that was all longer than intended 😅
