"What the—" Before the third defender could react, Bachira was already moving. He didn't just dribble; he danced. The ball stayed glued to his feet like an extension of his own body. Heel flick, scissors, a sudden dead stop that left the defender skidding past on the wet concrete, and then an explosive burst forward. He broke into the open space right in front of the makeshift goal—two battered trash cans set five yards apart. The Monster leaned in close, its yellow eyes gleittering in his mind's eye. Pass it? Shoot? Neither. Bachira chipped the ball high into the air, let it bounce once off his shoulder, and launched a volley straight into the top corner. The ball struck the back wall with a thunderous echo. Silence settled over the court, broken only by the sound of Bachira's soft laughter. "Man, that was fun," Bachira beamed, catching the rebounding ball effortlessly under his arm. He wiped his forehead with his sleeve, his eyes sparkling with pure, unadulterated joy.
