@adytum_official: The largest fibromyalgia genetic study to date: 54,629 cases and 2,509,126 controls across 11 cohorts, reporting 26 independent loci at genome wide significance. Genetic correlations estimated by LD score regression: hypermobility syndrome 0.79, PTSD 0.78, low back pain 0.75, IBS 0.70, somatoform disorder 0.67, depression 0.63, migraine 0.61, generalised anxiety 0.46. Some other pain conditions came out even higher, including cervicobrachial syndrome 0.87, myalgia 0.82 and joint pain 0.81. All passed the paper's Bonferroni threshold, though the hypermobility estimate carries wide uncertainty. Genetic correlation measures how variant effects align across traits. It is not a percentage of shared genes and it does not establish causation. Heritability was enriched in brain tissues and neural cell types, including enteric neurons, with no significant enrichment in peripheral immune cells.
