even the Qu still appear to have some level of humanness, with their punishments being individualistic and purposeful (colonials) and extend past the reasoning of ‘divine duty’. they are still interesting in terms of their lack of animalistic/primal violence. a motive of divine duty/godhood is very unique and less one dimensional than some other aliens in media. there were probably better examples to use but i just love all tomorrows so incredibly much and wanted to talk about them 😆 speculative biology is one of the coolest subgenres ever and so creative. all tomorrows is so fantastic and definitely worth a read, the qu are awesome, along with all the forms humans become (not exactly awesome but very interesting🫡). anthropomorphic presentations of aliens are still great i just am definitely more drawn to ones that are more conceptual and strange. this is also why The Thing is one of my favourite movies of all time.
