one thing i’ve found that helps my cat not scratch the couch is have a carpet mat down that he can scratch on, a bonus to that is he lives when i fold parts of it for him to scratch and attack

They’ll definitely still scratch it at first it’s just in their nature but if you try your hardest to keep them away from it when you catch them scratching they hopefully won’t do it as much 🫶🏼

I’d protect the couch either way just incase they start getting curious. And than if they do try it, move them to a place they can scratch. Maybe even do that for a few months. They’re still very young so training them could work…. I adopted my cat when he was about 3… he can’t be trained no matter how hard I try
