Cyclists are told they have the right of way in certain situations, even at some red lights, but having the right of way doesn’t mean there are no consequences if something goes wrong. The same goes for pedestrians: since the jaywalking law was changed, some people walk into traffic as if cars will always be able to stop. Whether you’re on a bike or on foot, having the legal right of way doesn’t replace common sense or responsibility for your own safety.
