The lesson isayama was trying to teach people is that just because you were victimized before doesn't mean you're entitled to inflict suffering onto others that's why he said Eren lacked imagination. This is why Hange screamed at everyone else excusing it. Every single attack titan holder from ymir to Eren was a victim and in turn every single holder ended up victimizing others out of a sense of entitlement.
