From a 50-mph tropical storm on Monday, Sept 21 to a 160-mph Category 5 in just 24 hours — rapid intensification like never seen before. Now packing 180 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 220 mph in the eyewall and a pressure of 892 mb — making it the 2nd lowest pressure ever observed in the Pacific, behind only Patricia (2015).
