Monuments & Entertainment The Colosseum, enormous baths, temples, aqueducts, and monumental forums demonstrated Rome's extraordinary wealth and engineering. Legacy Although the Western Roman Empire fell in the 5th century AD, Rome's influence survived through its law, architecture, engineering, language, and culture. Rome was more than a city.
