A default listing isn’t placed because someone had one bad day. A person must be 30 days in arrears on their credit before a Section 88 default notice can be issued. That notice provides 30 days to rectify the overdue balance. Once that notice expires, a 6Q notice can be issued. That provides another 30 days to rectify the overdue balance. Once that notice expires, a 21D notice can be issued. That notice provides 14 days to pay the overdue balance. Once e that notice expires, a default can be listed on the credit file. That process means a minimum of 108 days has passed and the person has not tried to negotiate with their creditor to get back on track. Major difference between 1 bad day and 108 bad days.
