Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and this year the Pro Max is clearly being positioned as the company’s ultimate traditional flagship. It is also the first smartphone to debut Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, built on a 2nm process. The camera system is easily one of the biggest highlights. Instead of reserving the huge sensor for just one focal length, Xiaomi is using 200MP sensors for both the main and periscope cameras. The telephoto also gets 3.2x optical zoom and close-focus macro capability, making this one of Xiaomi’s most ambitious Leica camera systems yet. The other crazy number is the 8,500mAh battery. That is a massive jump for a mainstream premium flagship, especially when paired with Qualcomm’s new 2nm platform. But this generation also brings a much bigger battery, dual 200MP cameras, a new 2nm Extreme-tier Snapdragon chip and a substantially upgraded display. And there is some good news outside China: Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series will reach global markets later this year, although exact regional pricing and availability have not yet been announced. Overall, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max feels much closer to an Ultra-class flagship than a conventional Pro Max.
