Watches aren’t just timepieces or investment opportunities, many times they have a story, a reason for being owned. Andy, your rating system is so clear, and it’s very kind. Many people can’t start at a $100K Daytona, but this is a growing community of watch lovers and Andy is the fuel that is feeding its growth.

But right now, I’m still in welding school, just regular welding, and I’d like to buy a watch when I graduate. What watch would you recommend for that? I know the Scuba Dude has a connection to underwater welding, but is there a watch that has a similar connection to regular welding?

Rolex (for the most part) is just boring. It’s the guy trying to prove he has a few bucks and is using it to throw around some ego. Rolex is quality for sure. They are just overrated and too common for the most part.

“Art is in the eye of the beholder.”. I would not pay for a Daytona. I would rather get a Moser, a Vacheron or an A Lange. Too many to choose from for that price. That’s why it gets a low rating for me too.

Here’s an unpopular opinion among watch collectors. I don’t understand the hatred of Fossil. I understand the hate for Daniel Wellington, Valusis, and MVMT. But Fossil isn’t trying to be something it’s not. The brand isn’t trying to deceive us with mis-perceived value or quality.

Why do people get on edge. I could care less if all my watches got a one rating. In my book they're all 10 except one which I regret. Everyones likes and dislikes different things. Don't take it so personal.
