This week I was thinking a lot about what advice I would be giving to my client department if I was still working within a local authority as a child protection lawyer, in particular had it been Bonnie Blue’s. Whilst I can’t comment on the child’s day to day physical care (I can only assume that’s ok), I cannot get away from the baby’s identity being dragged into her stunts, brands and rage baits. It’s so deeply disturbing and I believe constitutes safeguarding. Safeguarding however does not automatically equate to removing a baby from a parent. An LA will do everything they can to keep baby and parents together. One way in which they will work with parents is placing the baby on a child in need plan or child protection plan, depending on the welfare concerns. If baby is not on some kind of plan then I am genuinely confused & think there’s a failure somewhere (which wouldn’t be shocking tbh).
