@c5news: A baby elephant was saved from certain death after fishermen spotted its trunk just above the swollen currents of a river in West Bengal, India, and pulled it to safety. In a video that has since gone viral, the fishermen are seen paddling along the Teesta River, near Gajoldoba, and spotting the calf – said to be just a few days old – after it got separated from its herd and swept several kilometres downstream. The men reportedly followed the exhausted calf for around 3km before pulling up beside it and pulling it aboard their rowboat on 21 September. Once on shore, they informed the Baikunthapur Forest Division who helped reunite the calf with its mother. Other footage shows the men embracing after the rescue.
