It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. It ends in disparity and defeat. Sometimes in life you can do the right thing, grow, and become better, but still end up losing to the shittiest thing out of your control and not get a happy ending. In the end Bryan is dead and gone. Only the monster created by his misfortune remains. It’s not perfect but it’s very much real and the story of life sometimes.

The movie was thematically about the fear of parenthood, that theme was throughout the film. The exploding rat stomach, maternity ward, his discussions with his partner, him transformation etc... I wouldn't say it didn't have a theme.

The ending isn’t a cliffhanger it’s sort of a reveal. For fans of the games the ending reveals that we haven’t been following the protagonist/hero of the games we are used to. Instead we followed the person whose recordings we collect along the way and find out the tragedy of how they become a monster we have to deal with. The reveal is that Brian has been leaving those recordings for us along the way and now he’s the monster we know the hero has to deal with.

The horror version of "Dude Where's My Car!" is excellent 😂 Yeah I've watched a few of post-release interviews with Zach. He said "No offense to Resident Evil but while I was working on that, I'm also working on a more demanding script with The Flood, so with RE's script I didn't think much about it, wrote it in about 15hrs, just did whatever sounded fun and cool, and didn't think too much about it. It was my break from The Flood." And all I'll say is you can definitely tell.

I loved it. I like that there wasn’t really anything left open ended. Story happened and it’s over. Like a one shot.

It’s a great movie! A normal guy gets dropped into the world of resident evil. It has great cinematography, with a fantastic lead actor who keeps making you say “ what an idiot “ until you realize this is you and most people would do exactly what he does. Great action , humor and scares

Bryan could’ve learned a little from Maxine.. survived.. and took what he learned to protect his girlfriend. Therefore leveling up & Giving the character ACTUALL character development!
