He knows his mind is a dangerous place to be left alone in. That’s why he is so desperately obsessed with finding his "north star." When he lost his north star, we saw what happened. He drowned. He spiraled because the one fixed point keeping his chaotic emotions in check was gone. Being a deeply emotional person in the real world feels exactly like being caught in that same kind of storm. When you feel things at 100% capacity all the time, it's so easy to feel unmoored. You get lost in your own anxiety, your own sadness, or just the sheer overwhelming weight of trying to figure out who you are and where you're supposed to go. You lose your sense of direction because everything around you and inside you feels like it's spinning out of control. Having that north star tattooed on me is a literal, physical mark of grounding. It’s a nod to Dex’s struggle, yes, but it’s also a deep personal promise to MYSELF. It’s an acknowledgment that, yeah, your mind gets loud. I feel lost. I get swept up in the waves of my own emotions. But that tattoo is a permanent reminder that I'm are always looking for my anchor...It’s me telling myself that even when the sky goes completely dark and I feel totally disconnected from who I want to be, there is a fixed point.
