Imagine how little maintenance we’d need on homes that were over engineered and built to last

Just remember whatever you build in a house will have some kid or idiot climbing on it at some point so build it as it will be used

My dad was a carpenter/industrial arts teacher. People always said they would hate to tear down a house he built. He always took that as a compliment. Great job!

your over engineer is just super stable/reliable. German over engineer is requiring a clock smith to work on any of it

If I can’t grab it like a toddler having a tantrum, I didn’t build it sturdy enough. (6’6” 270). I’d rather my work last 😅

My grandpa made all our cabinets in our kitchen and I can say even at my heaviest (240) I could still pull out a drawer and stand on it without it breaking or anything

overengineering a one off build is only bad if you have serious time and money constraints
