@coachdango: Everyone's obsessed with fiber for gut health. Stanford just showed it's not doing what you think. 36 people, 10 weeks, two diets. High-fiber group: no change in gut bacteria, no drop in inflammation. Fermented foods group: more diversity, all 19 inflammatory markers down. The reason is simple. Fiber feeds bacteria that's already there. It can't create bacteria that's missing. So if your gut's depleted, fiber just leaves you bloated. Seed it first. Two servings of refrigerated fermented food a day: yogurt, kimchi, kefir. Add the fiber after. - Dan #CoachDanGo #Fitness #health

I love fermenting foods but it gives me diarrhea. Is that a normal process and will it stop happening eventually ?

Fermented food produces sooooo much histamine. Idk how everyone else reacts, but I get so sick after I eat them.

I thought for an anti inflammatory diet you’re supposed to stay away from fermented foods?

Pickled≠Fermented. Fermentation requires sugar consuming bacteria. Pickled requires acidity. Pickles will not give you the same effect.

I was part of the Predict 2 student with Dr Tim Spector and several of the scientists who were part of this study. A lot of the information from Predict2 led to this study, and is fascinating. Diversity in probiotics and diversity in fiber sources is what they’ve found from their research. Great to see this starting to become more public.

I was diagnosed with IBD years ago. Gave up meat and dairy and started eating heavily fermented foods. I was “better” within 6 months. I’ve reintroduced some dairy but still don’t eat meat and 15 years later haven’t had any more stomach issues.

I don’t think I can eat the fermented food but a couple of years back I switched to just having probiotic yogurt and blueberries for dinner and my gerd issues stopped. That’s probably another benefit people don’t know about.
