Alcohol is fantastic, I genuinely love it. My biggest peeve with it is that people are never taught limits and how to consume alcohol, it’s always a “let’s get leathered” from literally 18. I grew up in a pub and learnt my limits very quickly, too many people abuse it and then want it banned. Addiction is horrible but you can’t punish everyone because of it, more help is needed.

If alcohol were invented now, it would be made illegal immediately and quite likely end up as Schedule I.

It’s actually wild how normalised alcohol is in society. I’ve never had an alcoholic drink because I have a family history of addiction issues and I’ve also never heard anyone tell a positive story about alcohol - but when I tell people that I don’t drink and never have, they act like I’m some alien creature that crash-landed on earth. They can’t fathom that someone would choose not to drink, it’s so weird.

I haven’t drank alcohol in 17 years, no desire, both my parents are alcohol&drug addicts, my dad died last year from alcoholism, I’ve been relentlessly bullied for not drinking and called “boring” for half of my life.

Alchohol is outright bad for you. With alcohol there is no moderation. It is outright damaging for your body. People trying to defend it are wild. If you want to drink it cool, but there is no defence for how harmful it is.

I haven’t drank since 27th December 2023. I stopped in solidarity with my Brother, who has been sober since 25th June 2024 ☺️🤍 Marketing makes alcohol appear as if it’s okay to drink, but in actual fact, it’s just poison with a nicer label.

Nessa :
Alcohol is a drug that has become so normalised that we have a completely different language for it. We don’t call people who drink alcohol ‘an alcohol user’. We have the notion of a ‘normal’ drinker versus an alcoholic with the emphasis being on the person’s reaction to the addictive substance rather than the substance itself because people are uncomfortable with the idea that the substance itself is the issue. The slogan ‘drink responsibly’ comes from the drinks’ industry, again to put the onus on the individual rather than question the dangers of alcohol itself which is a group 1 carcinogen along with tobacco and asbestos and there is no safe level of consumption.

The only reason that alcohol hasn't already been banned, Is because of just how much money it makes. Countries and Companies have traded off people's health for their own financial gain. I don't touch the stuff, and haven't done in over 10 years
