@melissajbyrnex: Bit of a storytime I guess! Dreams about estranged family or your abusers. Trigger warning on this one my love. Ps do ignore how bad my blush is, I got ready with my eyes closed this morning. Apparently 🥹
You really are an inspiration for talking about this stuff. I’m only 19 and have a lot of trauma relating to my mother and I seriously look up to you Mel. Never stop talking ! X

This is really important. I have nightmares still of him pinning me down, and the plot is always that I’m in such a distressed state telling other family members- it’s constantly built around the suffocating feeling of them being dismissive of it, and calling me daft. Wake up with my heart heavy

I'm glad to see someone talking about this, since facing the reality of what my stepbrother did to me I've had loads of nightmares about it, especially about me trying to tell my family and then them not believing me or of my family kidnapping me and making me be around him which is very similar to what they put me through when I first tried to speak out about it.
Dreams can be so impressive with how they reflect our lives, our hopes and our fears but nightmares like this linked to trauma can sometimes make me have an unsettled feeling for the rest of the day.

The dreams can be so awful I was having dreams about my dad and his family his abusive behaviour , hitting me and controlling me using culture and religion as a weapon on me everytime I visited him . Had those dreams years later and about my abusive ex and everything he did now it still affects me sometimes not necessarily dreams but if people don’t respect my boundaries or no n carry on doing something like dentist etc it triggers my ptsd . Definitely speaking to my husband and family helped n going no contact with him n his family it made life easier n him being in another country helps . People don’t really understand unless they’ve went through something . Therapy can be a saviour for so many people for me it made everything worse . You’ve been through a lot .

I'm very very sorry. Not to be believed is the worst of the worst. Shame is about not being loved. The shame doesn't belong to you
