this is genuinely so fascinating. imo it seems like there's a lot of "activists" who care about their "communities" while giving everyone else around them no grace whatsoever, which ends up destroying communities, individuals, and the institutions/places they orbit. it sucks.

This is just proof to the idea that if you’re performative for the sake of other people, than you will always be left with disappointment when they cannot reciprocally perform to your standards. It’s genuinely saddening to me to hear that a space created to be an accessible community for people who are otherwise unable to take part in it (like the bartender) is being undermined by the very people the institution tried to cater to.
