At some point you have to retire and you'll need income (residuals). It seems like you should do it for that reason alone. Does the person who has the original idea (created by) earn residuals?

What does it mean for a script to be in “terrible shape”? Does it not make sense? Is it not funny/interesting? I have an engineering background so I’m lost as to what constitutes a “bad script”.

I remember Sorkin taking the screenplay credit on just about every episode. He often gave story credit to others. Is that mostly ceremonial, or does it come with residuals?
